Objective 36: Im watching you!!!!!!!

Our immune system is like the surveillence system of our bodies. As Mrs.Gess always reminds us in class, our immune systems are so unique because of their ability to recognize and to distinguish between self and non-self and because of it's memory. In our immune systems we have this protein called Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC), this protein is divided into two parts, Class 1 MCH and Class 2 MCH. Class 1 MCH is found in all body cells, where as Class 2 MCH is found only in cells  that deal with the immune system. Class 2 MCH eat up the bad guys in our bodies and then take a piece of the bad guy and show it off like a trophy. They do this so that the other cells in the body will be able to identify the bad guy.    Mrs.Gess used an example of her defetinng Aarron, then she took Aarons sunglasses and put them on illustrating how the Class 2 MHCs defetes the bad guys then shows a piece of them off.

Objective 42:Protect yourself

Non specific Immune system will attack anything foreign tring to enter in our bodies. It consist of twp parts the 1st line of defense and the 2nd line of defense. The 1st line consist of the skin and the mucosae. The 2nd line is made up of antimicrobial protiens, phagocytes, and other different cells found in the body. The 2nd line of defense is used in the inflamatory process.
Specific Immunity targets  more specific foreign invaders, it takes a little bit longer to be prepared for the "fight" than the 1st two above. It consist of the T-cells and the B-cells.
We also an active immunity which can be aquired in two way: naturally and artificially. Natural immunity is when you "catch a bug" and you feel bad. Artificial immunity is what all of us PTA student just had to go and get. It's vaccines, they don't prevent disease, they just help fight off the disease if we get exposed to it, it's basically a fake infection or virus that dosen't kill us or hurt us too bad.
